Description Guanosine (Guo) and guanosine monophosphate (GMP) are noted for their biological effects in human system. In this study, the voltammetry of Guo and GMP on pencil graphite electrode (PeGE) was studied. In the first voltammetric cycle, oxidation peaks at ca. 1.1 V vs. Ag/AgCl were observed for both compounds. In the second cycle at about 0.6 V for Guo and GMP an additional oxidation peak was found. The further electrochemical experiments indicated that the new peak corresponds to 8-oxoguanine moiety which was after the oxidation process of Guo or GMP adsorbed on PeGE surface. The intensity of 8-oxoguanine peak for Guo was higher than for the GMP, that is probably due to the effect of the phosphate group of GMP. The effect of pH on both the first and the second cycle is manifested by negative shift of oxidation signals with increasing of pH. In addition, the voltammograms of Guo and GMP were analyzed using the elimination function E4, indicating the adsorption processes for both Guo and GMP by the signal in a peak-counterpeak form.
