Description In the Czech environment the theme of artistic patterns toy devoted attention at the beginning of the twentieth century artists association in the group ARTEL, the idea of continuing the Art and Crafts movement. The biggest development of this trend was however after 1918. Projects for new toys creatively responded to the emancipatory interests of young Czech culture, combining modern artistic intuition of folk traditions, creating a distinctive whole, consistent with the needs of the educational process. Creative ambitions designers to include their psychological and educational purpose and use of modern production techniques. They postulated the need for profound social reform and universal accessibility of their projects. The most important figure of this period was without a doubt Ladislav Sutnar. His designs toys and especially funkcjonalistycznie sets of blocks like "Folding City" (1922) and "The City Factory" (1927) received international recognition and can be treated as a synonym for a positive relationship between avant-garde art and pedagogical Reformation movement.
