| Description | Our self-perception, stories through which we understand ourselves and the world around us are formed by pyy-ences - the disciplines such as psychology or psychiatry which are at the heart of the organization of modern societies (Rose 1996). Sexology is part of the psy-entific expertise which speaks to people and at the same time presents a tool for governing and regulating the population. The shifting "sexpertise" is tied to the shifts in social organization which I document on the case of Czechoslovakia between the 1950s and the 1970s. |
