Description The contribution is zoomed to tenement house in Ostrava from the end of 19th century which could serve as representative of dozens of similar objects from these period and forms the space of our towns and cities without be considered as something valuable. The text describes Renaissance Revival object, modern annex and urbanistic development of surroundings, including available services and status of the inhabitants. The contribution shows building history of the house from the year 1891 till nowadays and attribute the authorship to the building entrepreneur Ferdinand Hawlik. Contribution is also focused on the person of the builder and first owner of the house, Rudolf Koch and his connections to the Ostrava notables. Contribution also shown the consideration of the architect Aleš Student when he designing an annex in 2003. So, on the example of common building the contribution wants to show, that these objects stands at the borders of the mere construction and architecture, but has interesting history which form theirs value more, than formal appearance.
