Description Women surname affixation is one of the few areas of Czech language that is regulated by law. The attitude of Czech women in regard to choosing the form of their surname differs. Ultimately, the woman will decide which form of her surname will be used (through unspoken communication). The article is based on a questionnaire survey and it is a study of the attitudes of contemporary Czech women regarding the current, sensitive issue of affixing or non-affixing their surname from a sociolinguistic point of view.
