Description Lung cancer is among the most common malignant tumours in both Europe and the world in general. NSCLC was diagnosed in 4243 new patients in the Czech Republic in the year 2013. By 31st December 2013, there have been 9719 people in the Czech Republic with either the diagnosis of non-small cell lung carcinoma or a history of this disease. In recent years, there has been much development in treatment of non-small cell carcinoma, even though the only fully curative treatment is still surgery. A significant increase in survival even for patients in advanced stages of the disease is due to new radiotherapy techniques and treatment based on morphological diagnosis and molecular-genetic features of the tumour.
