Description | This paper focuses on the problems connected with estimating parameters in a computer adaptive online language test developed at Masaryk University and used as a prerequisite for hundreds of students every semester before their enrolment in seminars of English for Special Purposes or Academic English. A segment estimate of parameters of the item response function is suggested as a solution of the so-called guessing problem. The results are compared with the usual approach, namely applying a three-parameter model. |
