Description According to a number of epidemiological studies, women are more vulnerable to cardiovascular risk factors than men. Women also have certain specific risk factors such as use of oral hormone contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy, pregnancy and toxaemia during pregnancy. This paper describes former and recent results from significant studies on gender differences in cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.
