| Description | The aim of this paper is to analyze a particular social phenomenon: the conversion of a large number of intellectuals to Catholicism in France. Many representatives of the French cultural life decide to convert themselves to Catholicism at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The literary works of the converted artists belong to the Catholic literary revival which allows the birth of a new literary genre, the "conversion narrative". The converted artists issued from several social and spiritual circles play an important role in the French literature. They try to express their inner transformations as well as find their spiritual identity in the Catholic faith. |
