Description Pulmonary embolism is a relatively common disease. The case report of simultaneous pulmonary embolism and aortic dissectionis presented. Although the pulmonary embolism is more frequently treated non-invasively (anticoagulants or thrombolysis), inour patient a surgical treatment was chosen because of the extent of the emboli. A massive pulmonary embolism that occludedthe pulmonary artery bilaterally was described on pulmonary angiography. The aortic dissection type B is often managed withusing endovascular treatment, but in this case a conservative approach was chosen because the dissection very probably wasn´ta new condition. The dissection was diagnosed as coincidental with minimal manifestation.
