| Description | This chapter describes transformations of methods of legitimizing the royal power of Chinggis Khan’s lineage in the history of the Mongols. The chapter chronologically traces the role and authority of Chinggis Khan’s lineage from the end of the 15th century, through a crisis of Chinggis Khan’s lineage’s power in the 15th century and the rise of Oirat power to the renaissance of Chinggis Khan’s clan in the time of Dayan Khan and the royal support of Buddhism as a new legitimization method in the late 1500s. |
