| Description | Not very exhilarating outcomes of then recent TIMSS and PISA surveys in the Czech Republic, reporting on the results of pupils' education, especially in science, lead inevitably to analyze the causes of this state. The most important factor influencing the level of the scientific literacy seems to be the current status of the teaching staff. The analysis of both reports indicates that this is particularly due to the age structure and specialization of teachers for primary school and to the low number of science teachers with appropriate qualification in physics and chemistry at lower secondary schools. |
