Description Ensuring equal access to health care is an important public policy goal. The main goal of this paper is to analyze the geographical distribution of health care in the Czech Republic. Then we try to evaluate the goals of health policy in relation to improving equal access to health care in the Czech regions, firstly from the view of central government and health insurance companies, secondly from the view of the individual regions. The analysis is divided into two subsections. The trend in regional distribution of health care was analyzed quantitatively on the data for the period 2000 – 2015 and the level of distribution of healthcare services are discussed in the first part. The results of the presented analysis show substantial inequalities. In the second part, we focus on the central government's activities and the activities of the government´s of selected regions. We try to focus on the issue if regions aim to the improvement of the equity in access to health care. For this purpose, we analyzed strategic documents of the government and the selected regions. We have not found evidence that the government of the regions with lower access to health care in its health policy aims at its improvement.
