| Description | The textbook provides a summary of essentials of general neurology to the extent appropriate for the bachelor´s degree programme students of nursing and midwifery. It provides basic information about anatomical and functional organization of the central and peripheral nervous system. The clinical examination and laboratory methods commonly used in neurological patients are described with the stress put on their contraindications and possible complications, which might be relevant for the nursing process. The most frequent types of nervous system disorders are mentioned. The emphasis is put on the clinical presentation of the dysfunction of particular parts of the nervous system including possible nursing problems in most important neurological disorders. The textbook was created by the team of authors from Masaryk University and both the university hospitals in Brno. Basic text is intended for all the bachelor´s students, while the extending data for midwives are presented in separate boxes. At the end of each chapter, a brief summary of the topic is mentioned. |
