| Description | The current policy is focused primarily on economic growth. The cult of economic growth creates a need to maximize profit and efficiency. This trend is evident in many fields including those based on the non-material values which threaten their purpose. I see the solution in the use of approaches that focus on human development such as Sen's capability approach. In social work, the economization manifests itself with an emphasis on the performance and efficiency of the individual. The attention is being passed to an individual who is accused of failure, and his behavior is pathologized. I consider it necessary to draw attention to such theories and approaches that do not neglect the importance of the social environment of human existence. Therefore I focus on this question: What is the use of the capability approach for the theory of social functioning in social work? |
