Description Presented thesis is focused on a locality lying in the central part of the Moravian Karst. At the intersection of the Moravian karst and Brno massif near Adamov, calcite precipitation in the form of tufa was observed due to the supersaturation of water with calcium and carbonates. The theoretical part deals with geomorphological and hydrogeomorphological conditions of Moravian Karst, describes karst water, carbonate system and conditions of tufa formation. The subject of the second part of the work are the springs around Adamov and Babice nad Svitavou. The thesis analyzes and compares the results obtained from the Josefov valley and the Křtinský potok valley where tufa was observed or could be precipitating due to water hydrogeochemistry and the findings from the area of Vyškůvka hill, where no tufa was observed, probably because of different geological environment
