Description Problematics of complicated chemistry across the epidote group is still unexplored area, which can be used for better understanding of structures and their behavior on the basis of contained elements. Due to the presence of radioactive elements (U, Th) we can observe certain parts of crystalline, semi-crystalline and totally metamictized sections. Together with specific sites occupied by REE we get very complex interconnection between interatomic distances, volume of unit cells, possibility of substitutions and ability to measure Raman spectra. The degree of radiation damage also correlate with chemistry and resulting Raman data. An important characteristic of epidote group minerals, that are enriched by REE, is that their octahedrally coordinated M sites contain major amounts of divalent cations. These cations may participate together with REE in the formation of a strong luminescence which constitute elementary problem in the research of such minerals.
