Description The miners´ strike in Handlová (1940) during the Slovak state (the largest) was undoubtedly an important day, but in a sense also a landmark. From the point of view of the internal political functioning of the popular regime, its nature was unmasked due to the brutal suppression of the strike. The ideological narrative of the welfare state has been eroded. It was precisely this aspect that was already being promoted by the Communists, but later mainly by the Marxist-Leninist historiography, which instrumentalized the strike and uncritically evaluated the strike. She clearly attributed the leading role to the Communists. Was it really so? And how did historiography after 1989 address the issue?
