Description One of the key aspects of paediatric postoperative care is effective analgesic therapy. Effective analgesia is considered one of the fundamental right of the patient. The pharmacotherapy, despite the rapid advances in regional analgesia techniques, remains the mainstay of analgesia management. Limitied communication options and cooperation of paediatric patients during postoperative period can often lead to inadequately treated postoperative pain. The preferable approach is multimodal analgesia that combines pharmacotherapy with locoregional anaesthetic techniques. The subanaesthetic doses of ketamin can significantly reduce the opioid consumption in the early postanaesthesia period.
