Description Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia and their boundaries are often described as “historical”, “former”, “one-time”, “relict” etc. According to many people both lands and their boundaries no longer exist. However, the following questions should be asked: When and why it happened that the Czech lands and their boundaries are described like that? What do such designations really mean? And are they true at all? Partial answers can be found e.g. thanks to an analysis of selected texts issued by the Czech Geographical Society over the past more than 100 years (specifically articles in a journal “Geografie” and its ancestors) or thanks to an observation of the current Moravian movement. This paper aims to point out that under certain circumstances Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia and their boundaries can be designated by the above mentioned adjectives referring to the past, however, at the same time it is necessary to treat them as current entities.
