Description Vladimír Groh (1895-1941) has been the first specialized professor of the Ancient history at the Masaryk University Brno. From his student years he could on the high professional level succesfuly argue against significant foreign researchers in this branch. Gradually he became one of them, especially in the field of the earliest Roman history. Humanities he always took for an instrument of the cultivation of man likewise as for effective weapen of various political polemics Groh has been an important propagator od science, f. e. as a member, secretary, president and vice-president of the scientific society called Matice moravská. He turned into the home resistence against the nazi-occupation of Czech Republic and was one of the first man executed within the martial law declared whenn the Reinhard Heydrich became the so called protector of Bohemia and Moravia. He is the model of an accurate scientist, using the knowledge of various scientific disciplines, including the natural science, in the historical research, he ranked among the researchers urging the complexity in the conception of the history and the application of humanities for the requirements of a society.
