Description The research report summarises the results of the part of project IP70704 Research on the attractiveness of the discipline of social work for students of secondary, tertiary professional schools and universities and research on the professional competence and personal prerequisites necessary for the performance of social work, namely the part concerning professional competences and personality predispositions, which have a key role in the professional performance of social work. Through qualitative and quantitative research methods, we sought an answer to the question: What are the prerequisites for the performance of social work by those social workers who tend to apply a situational approach in the context of disparate expectations for what and how they are to deal with the clients? The dimensions of the professional and personal predispositions of the social workers targeted by this research were as follows: social worker preferences (their values, ideals, interests, objectives); ideas about the context of social work (i.e. schemes of interpretation related to social workers, clients, other participants in the situations, and expectations placed on social workers); ideas of social workers about desirable ways of acting in interactions with clients, other social workers and other actors; the knowledge used; personal disposition of social workers.
