Citation
Description The presentation focuses on children with a parent in prison. Although there are currently 40,000 of these children in the Czech Republic, almost no space is devoted to them in social work. In this theoretical article, the possible difficulties associated with the research of this target group are first reflected, and then the topic of their resilience is discussed. The focus on resilience is based on a strength-based approach and focuses on the question of how to support a child to be able to withstand the rigors of a parent's imprisonment and deal with it in an adaptive way. The aim of this article is to find an answer to the question: „How is it possible that some children with a parent in prison are able to successfully adapt and thrive despite their difficult life situation (risk status), while other children with a parent in prison cannot?“ The text points out that strengthening the child's resilience to a parent in prison is related to strengthening the family's resilience.
