Citation
Description This chapter aims to analyse the usage of univerbates created by a non-standard word-formation process involving significant shortening of the derivative stem of the base word and, in some cases, the root. Besides the word-formation structure description serving to demonstrate the non-standardness of the word-fomation processes in the given univerbates, the author presents examples in use encompassing various written text spheres, e.g. literary, journalistic and technical, and also evaluates the usage of these expressions in terms of different stylistic requirements applying to the above mentioned areas from the language convention perspective. It has been found that 4 % of all univerbates found in the Czech National Corpus SYN (written texts corpus) and Araneum Bohemicum Maximum (internet texts corpus) have been created in a non-standard way. Nevertheless, some of them are commonly used in standard journalistic and professional text types.
