Description The article analyses the acitivity of the women´s organisation affiliated with Polish social democracy in Teschen Silesia and the Moravian borderland in the years 1907 - 1914. It reveals that the women´s socialist organisation of the PPSD (Polish Social-Democratic Party of Galicia and Teschen Silesia), similarly to female sections of sororals social democrats in Moravia, Austria, Germany or other coutries, suffered from many "childhood diseases". Their activity was determinated by for the position of the Polish population in the region and a strong national suffrage discourse. Therefore Polish working women held the traditional role of mothers bringing up the new Polish generation, which was very close to the traditional middle-class view on the social and political position of women. The activity of the women´s socialist organisation was terribly limited by the lack of a higher number of experienced female speakers and activists, which led to the politival campaign being carried out mainly by Dorota Kłuszyńska, the chairwoman of the women´s socialist organisation.
