| Description | This paper applies the concept of symbolic capital introduced by Pierre Bourdieu on the research of the Slovak documentary field. The paper explains three different sources of symbolic capital for documentary producers and directors; movies themselves, director´s acting in front of camera and media discourse about movies and their directors. The paper accents the importance of symbolic capital in state funded industry and shows how it is perceived by commissioners of the Audiovisual Fund in Slovakia. |
