Description The key values of social work include human dignity and the resulting respect for individuals and the common good expressed in the value of social justice. These key values are set out in the basic documents of the social work profession. However, the way of expressing key values is not unchanged, but documents are continuously modified on the basis of impulses given, for example, by changing social conditions, needs of practice, etc .. Usually it is not a significant change these values. The aim of the paper is to answer the question of what changes in the expression of key values of social work occur in selected documents IFSW and IASSW (in the definition of social work and in the international ethical document) and how these changes are reflected by social workers. To answer the question, the shifts in the conception of values will first be identified on the basis of a comparison of the definitions of social work from 2004 and 2014 and the application of these shifts in the conception of values in an international ethical document (2018). Subsequently, we will focus on how the “new” expression of values was reflected by the participants in the research of Ethical Dilemmas, Values and Principles of Social Work, which took place last year.
