Description The lecture was focused to the work of opera director Miloš Wasserbauer mainly at the State (now National) Theater in Brno, at the Slovak National Theater in Bratislava and in other European theaters (e.g. at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan). The director's personality and work are approached by the author from various perspectives and in contexts that also testify to the atmosphere in Czech theater in the 1950s and 1960s. The topic of realism and metaphor in opera productions directed by Miloš Wasserbauer, changes in the staging form within the opera staging practice of the 1950s and 1960s, opera scenography and growing tendencies in the application of stage metaphors are especially reflected. The lecture also introduced the author's new book entitled "Director as a Concept. The work of opera director Miloš Wasserbauer in the 1950s and 1960s."
