| Description | The paper analyzes the process of library formation in the first half of the 20th century, not as an institution that originated by chance, but in a specifically Czech environment associated with humanistic ideals. We prove this thesis on the analysis of the texts of Mahen and Masaryk, but we also place ourselves in the broader social framework of social pedagogy, which in this period strongly promotes its word. The fact that the Czech Republic has the densest network of libraries and the ideas that were imprinted in them in the First Library Act are fundamental determinants that must be observed in the historiographical analysis of this phenomenon. |
