| Description | The chapter carries out an analysis of the role of language in presuading and influencing inhabitants of Great Britain before the Brexit referendum using the methods of sociolinguistics and pragmalinguistics analysis. The introductory part explains the language of persuasion and propaganda, the following parts explain the analysis - always comparing pro-Brexit wing and the wing supporting staying in EU from the syntactical, lexical and grammar point of view, focusing also on hedging and modality.imperative, nominalizations, and presuppositions. This chapter is an example of ideology in language and an example of interdisciplinary approach to the topic. |
