Description In the spring months of 2012, surface collections were carried out in the vicinity of the Kouřim - St. Jiří stronghold, which associated with the archaeological excavations of M. Šolle. The site is located on a small promontory formed by a river terrace 1 km south of the core of Kouřim. The finds of pottery obtained by surface collection prove the settlement of the site in the agricultural prehistoric period, from which several fragments belonging to the linear pottery culture have been identified, and in the Early Middle Ages, i.e. 11th and 12th century. The newly discovered early medieval settlement site formed part of the nearby hinterland of the Kouřim - St. George stronghold, from whose southern forti?cation was only about 400 m away.
