Description | This contribution aims to demonstrate how the spaces serving for encounters of worshippers of the goddess Great Mother were created, used and perceived in the period of Christianisation of Rome in the fourth century. It focuses on the places where taurobolia, collective sacrifices performed by worshippers of the Great Mother, were taking place. The contribution reflects ways in which these encounters were perceived by insiders (communities belonging to the shrines) and outsiders from traditional Roman elites and Christians. |
