Description | Human embryonic stem cells have been derived since 1998, when Thomson et al. described the derivation of the H9 and H1 lines. These lines are among the most frequently used lines 41.5% (H9) and 26.9% (H1) in the publication of scientific papers worldwide2. This enormous use of the same lines in experiments may devalue the credibility of the results, and since variability is a major feature of biology, different human embryonic stem cell lines should be used for experiments. Here we present MUES 6, a human embryonic stem cell line with excellent characteristics ready for research use. This cell line shows a high percentage of pluripotency markers, a standard karyotype and differentiation into all three germ layers, making it an excellent starting material for various experiments. |
