| Description | The study deals with the possibilities of literature creating a concept of death in children using eight picture books for preschool and younger school children as an example. Interpretative analyses reveal the potential of literary and visual images personifying the figure of Death and also provide an impulse for the reception of these works. This proves a gradual shift in the way this previously taboo topic is currently portrayed in childrens literature.
