| Description | The aim of this chapter is to propose objectives for the further development of social work education in higher education. In formulating proposals for improving the system of social work education, it is necessary to take into account more considerations than just the current shape of the labour market. This publication is based on the premise that the education of social workers should take into account the demands placed on them in practice. When this link is absent or does not work, the educational reality is divorced from the reality of the actual practice of the profession. However, the so-called labour market is a relatively fluid phenomenon. On the one hand, changes in the functioning of society may trigger new demands for responses from various stakeholders (not only social workers), while at the same time the so-called human and material resources available to meet the new challenges may change. If the current or predicted state of the labour market were to become the only consideration in the construction of an educational programme, this would be a reduction of perspective that would devalue other, equally important educational objectives. |
