| Description | Through the mysterious audiovisual work of the Czech artist and theorist Lea Petříková in the space of Vitrina Deniska, we observe an intimate testimony of individual human experience. The testimony elaborates on the issue of vision in general, which Lea Petříková has returned to in her most recent works, and opens up deeper mystical questions related to spirituality and the perception of reality as such. It deals with the transmission and capture of the seen, or the invisible intimate experience and its elusiveness. The work poses the disturbing question of whether we can truly understand the seen and whether the mythical "Palace of Seeing" is really attainable. The whole installation is inspired by the specific space of the showcase and its primary function (site-specific) and is stylized in the form of a film poster inviting to the audiovisual work, which is also part of the installation. We have thus attempted to create a kind of meta-installation, referring to itself. This exhibition was a part of the three exhibitions cycle named "Start to see". |
