| Description | This contribution dealt with the linguistic image of death in “Srpske poslovice i druge različne, kao i one u običaj uzete riječi” (1849) by Vuk Stefanović Karadžić with the aim of introducing the very rich and diverse notions of death and associated ritual practices. Ethnolinguistic analysis shows that this collection of proverbs and sayings, which faithfully reflects the reality of the spiritual and material life of the Serbian nation in the first half of the 19th century, is a good testimony to this important aspect of traditional Serbian culture. |
