| Description | Peripheral artery disease includes multiple involvement of the arterial bloodstream, except for the coronary arteries and the aorta. In the elderly dominates lower limb artery impairment. Lower extremity peripheral artery disease is a manifestation of the atherothrombotic process. Nevertheless even in the elderly, we must not forget to recognize other non-atherosclerotic causes of peripheral artery disease - thromboangiitis obliterans, systemic vasculitis, compressive syndromes, etc. The term peripheral artery disease refers to the chronic form of the disease. |
