Description The use of the polygraph as a device for detecting the lies of the person being interrogated has undoubtedly its place in criminalistic practice. In Czech, respectively, Czechoslovak criminalistics, this device has been used for more than fifty years, yet it is not entirely clear what its position is among the criminalistic methods used by the police in detecting crimes and their perpetrators, and whether the result of the polygraph examination is usable as evidence in criminal proceedings. We will focus on these issues in our paper.
