| Description | We protect cultural heritage in the public interest. In order to fulfill this interest, the public must be allowed access to protected properties. Access to cultural heritage is therefore one of the fundamental rights. The aim of the contribution is to present the basic models of ownership of cultural heritage and the principles of its protection, and then to reflect on these when looking at the legal regulations of the Czech Republic. The result will be a brief assessment of how public (professional and lay) access to cultural heritage is ensured in the Czech Republic. Attention will be primarily devoted to access to archeological finds, as a specific group of cultural heritage. Issues of property rights, places of storage, care for finds and, briefly, the very practical enabling of public access will be reflected. |
