Description The Library of the Institute of History in Prague and its branch in Rome celebrate a centenary this year. The foundation of both libraries in 1921 was initiated by an effort of arising Czechoslovakia to confirm its historical entitlement to the existence of an independent state. The libraries have been collecting and conveying sources on czech history since their foundation. Thanks to this fact, libraries can boast about the one of the longest systematically built collection focused on a czech historical production. They were affected by World War II or Czechoslovak coup d'état in 1948 which caused a closing of the branch in Rome and a restructuring of the library in Prague and its integration into a new Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. A contribution will focused on these and other historical milestones that had an important impact on running and development of both libraries.
