Description A set of specialised maps with expert content provides the first comprehensive synthesis of the availability of archival sources, and secondary sources and our field research focused on locating and developing pre-industrial technical operations on the territory of the former allodial estate of Rožnov from the earliest times until the end of their activity, or until their transformation into industrial production of the same or other focus. The oldest documented operations (typically mills established by the estate) in the study area already appeared in the Middle Ages. In contrast, the last operations, mostly of a private nature (e.g. fruit dryers, forges, etc.) ceased their activity only in the second half of the 20th century. A significant breakthrough period was the rise of steam and then electric propulsion, replacing the earlier water in the first decades of the 20th century, bringing about a fundamental shift in the productivity of production, which made pre-industrial engineering plants uncompetitive. Another milestone was the overall economic changes due to the course and impact of the Second World War, which led to the definitive disappearance of most of the plants.
