Description | For events registered as „heritage,“ there is a tendency to preserve these practices and thus suppress the cultural process (Claessen, 2002; Fog Olwig, 2002; Kurin, 2002; Sears, 2002), but at the same time, contemporary ideas and innovations, whether conscious or unconscious, emerge quite spontaneously. The concept of the performativity of heritage also challenges the notion of audience passivity and places the audience in the role of active actors in the performance of heritage (Smith, 2006). In this case, how does autopoiesis affect the form of heritage and the tension between 'conservation' and 'innovation'? This paper will discuss examples of selected intangible cultural heritage practices from the Czech Republic. |
