| Description | The study assesses the quality of life of patients with psoriasis using the international standardized questionnaire DLQI (Dermatology Life Quality Index). 70 patients diagnosed with psoriasis and treated at the Dermato-venerological department at University Hospital in Brno took part in an anonymous questionnaire survey. Quality of life in women and men did not differ significantly. The largest group (31.4%) consisted of patients with a DLQI score of 0-1, i.e. no effect at all on the patient's life, followed by a group with a small effect on the patient's life with a DLQI score of 2-5 (28.6%). A moderate effect on a patient's life (DLQI score 6-10) was recorded in 21.4% of patients, and a very large effect on a patient's life (DLQI score 11-20) occurred in 15.7% of patients. Only 2 patients (2.9%) had an extremely large effect on the patient's life (DLQI score 21-30). Patients with biological treatment had a significantly better quality of life (average DLQI score 3.5) compared to patients treated with conventional therapy (average DLQI score 7.4). In conclusion, it is recommended that when deciding on a psoriasis treatment strategy, a dermatologist should consider the result of quality of life measurements. Quality of life is becoming one of the goals of dermatological therapy and is currently also a criterion of its effectiveness. |
