Keywords pediatric non-accidental burns
Description In this letter, we propose the development of a standardized screening protocol for child abuse, one that accounts for diverse socio-economic, cultural, and systemic conditions worldwide. Child abuse, particularly in pediatric burn cases, is a critical issue requiring international attention and adaptable detection mechanisms. Studies indicate that the global incidence of non-accidental burns (NAB) in children ranges from 1?% to 25?% with an estimated incidence of 3–18.5?% in the United States and 3–9?% in Europe. This underscores the urgent need for effective and reliable detection tools. However, current approaches remain fragmented.
