Description Sports activities are generally considered to be beneficial to health and support the proper functioning of the immune system. However, during long-term extreme stress (e.g. during ultramarathon races or stage cycling races), changes in immune functions occur in the body, which may have the character of immunosuppression. This may cause increased susceptibility, especially to respiratory infections in the period after these extreme performances. A decrease in immune functions may manifest itself as a decrease in antibody levels, respiratory burst of neutrophils, lymphocyte proliferation or antigen presentation by monocytes. The aim of the work was to determine and statistically process hematological and immunological parameters of athletes after excessive stress and compare them with the parameters before the race.
