| Description | The aim of this study is to establish the motivation of lexemes denoting friendship, sympathy, friendship, love and closely related concepts in the Ukrainian language. The tool for establishing word motivation is, first of all, the analysis of the internal form of the word, which is often revealed through the structure of the word or lies in the plan of etymology, which dates back to the Proto-Slavic or Proto-Indo-European period. The study has shown that majority of lexemes are motivated by concrete or material concepts ("??????", "????????????", "?????", "??????????", "?????????", "???????????", "?????????", "??????????"). They can also be motivated by abstract concepts ("?????", "????????", "???????", "??????????"). The specific motivation of the lexemes "????" and "???????" which could be defined as military or entrepreneurial, deserves a special attention. |
