| Description | The whole plant of C. bornmuelleri was extracted with EtOH. The crude EtOH extract was dispersed in H2O and then partitioned against n-hexane, EtOAc, and n-BuOH, respectively. The crude extract, and solvent fractions were evaluated for their NF-?B inhibitory activities in LPS-stimulated THP-1 cells. Amongst, nBuOH fraction showed remarkable inhibitory effect on NF-?B (61%) which is comparable to positive control, prednisolone at 2 µM. Sequential chromatographic separations on the n-BuOH fraction using Polyamide CC, Sephadex LH-20 CC, MPLC (C18 and SiO2), and semi-preparative HPLC yielded a new iridoid glycoside, bornmuellerioside (1), along with 11 known secondary metabolites. |
