In seven chapters (Agriculture, What role did potatoes play in the lives of the common people?, Migration and the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands region 1850–1939, Railway and tram transport, Roads and motorways, Does it deserve a monument? and Self-representation of the region: natural and historical attractions, tourism) presents the regional history of the Highlands using a variety of methodologies and approaches. Each chapter offers a wide variety of tasks for students, including richly developed materials with group work assignments. Students will find references to historical sources, videos, examples of folklore, contemporary correspondence and press, and visual material such as maps and postcards helpful. Teachers can choose materials or sections of materials of varying length and difficulty according to the ability of the class or the time commitment of the topics. |
