Description This text is intended as a script for the course “Introduction to Higher Mathematics for Non-Mathematicians – Concise and clear”. However, it can also be of use to anyone who is interested in a relatively quick understanding of the basics of higher mathematics. The script assumes a high school knowledge of mathematics, but some important details are briefly repeated. The basic motto of the text is “concise and clear”. Higher mathematics textbooks tend to be written in precise language for mathematically literate readers, somewhat wordy, and accompanied by a number of complex and poorly understandable proofs. This quickly and unnecessarily discourages many people interested in higher mathematics. At the same time, however, higher mathematics can be understood intuitively, at least for the purposes of applied mathematical modelling, even without precise formulations and formal proofs. The explanation in this text therefore proceeds along this less precise, intuitive path, but always with an attempt at genuine understanding.
